Julian Juhlin’s
The Virgin Tour
In January 2022, I had the honor of working alongside Danish artist and set designer Julian Juhlin as Locations Assistant for the The Virgin Tour in New York City. Julian and I met at the International Studio and Curatorial Program (ISCP) where he was doing an artistic residency. We worked closely for 2 months finding a LED truck for the installation and scouting the area for parking permits. The Virgin Tour truck parked in DUMBO, Brooklyn before heading up to Times Square where passersbys, intrigued by the apparitions of the Virgin, went as far as chasing the truck down the road.
I penned the curatorial text for the installation which you can read below:
As part of the performance, Virgin Tour assistants gave out balloons filled with the virgin’s air to curious pedestrians. Assistants were performed by myself and Henry Luzzatto. Images were taken by Matt Baer.
