HEARTH

by Mckenzie Genin

HEARTH was conceived by McKenzie Genin with lead builder Crosby, with the support of Martin Rauchbauer and built and supported by the Green Bucket Collective. I was project manager on this project.

The piece originally received an honorarium from the Burning Man Organization and travelled to Black Rock City in 2024. It was built on and now resides at Djerassi Artist Residency Center in Woodside, California.

About HEARTH

HEARTH is an immersive ART installation that invites participants to explore the depths of human emotions and their connection to our planet EARTH.

Suspended within a metal cage, a wooden HEART symbolizes the interplay between EARTH, HEART, and ART. Participants can enter the cage as well as the suspended HEART to discover an inner chamber that can facilitate personal healing, reflection, and connection.

HEARTH's visual impact is heightened by illuminated metal continents and pulsating lights synchronizing with the HEART's rhythm, creating a mesmerizing atmosphere. HEARTH draws on the interplay between liberation, confinement, individual, and collective.
